Ham Radio/Amateur Radio History
What is the history behind radios well i'll start with James Clerk Maxwell, Heinrich Rudolf Hertz and Guglielmo Marconi.
Maxwell was a Scottish scientist he was working on electromagnetic radiation, Maxwell demonstrated that electric and magnetic fields could travel through space as waves moving at light speed, Maxwell managed to integrate the unique properties of light and electrical phenomena leading to the prediction of existence of radio waves.
Hertz was a German physicist who proved the existence of electromagnetic waves, he proved it by engineering instruments that could send and receive radio pulses. Hertz was the man who made alot of what we have now a reality like phones, radios, tvs, radars and lots more!
Marconi was an Italian inventor and electrical engineer Marconi was Known for making long range radios and transmissions, he made the law known as the Marconi law meaning the law that the maximum good signaling distance varies directly as the square of the height of the transmitting antenna, there is quiet a bit about Marconi i recommend looking up his name and looking at some of the things he did along with the others to its very interesting. So that is some background on how radios started.
